Oh, those Poor Prognosticators. They Jumped on the 'Dump Biden' Bandwagon and now they have to Jump Off Without Crushing Something.
I knew this would happen. Didn't you?
This is not about gloating. I try hard not to do that when my country is at risk and the stakes are this high. Instead, I worry. When my country is in trouble and I see problems with the solutions, I become the mother hen of all mother hens. I beg, I cajole, I threaten in ways that don’t feel threatening, and I use every bit of wisdom I’ve learned over the years to try and get my way.
That’s what moms of the world do. (BTW, you don’t have to be a real mom to be a mom of the world. It’s inborn.)
If it feels like failure is looming, we don’t stop. We can’t. Because our vision of the world requires us to make good things happen. Children depend on us. The disenfranchised depend on us. The sick, the sorry, those in every kind of servitude depend on us. And we gather our strength from the tiniest spaces, even when we think we can’t go on, because too much depends on us to stop.
So that’s who we are. And if you’ve noticed, a lot of us are out here using our positions and our voices to stop the madness over Joe Biden’s rightful run for the presidency.
I’ll leave it to the experts to do the analyzing and the Monday Morning quarterbacking. Not that I think they’ll get it right. They haven’t so far. But they claim to be the experts, so I’ll go on and do my thing while they try and figure out how they can apply their political expertise to what amounts to wrongheaded bullying and ageism and perception and projection.
And look what a mess they’ve created! But no. No gloating. Only this:
I’ve watched and listened and I shake my head every time one of them—poohbahs, pundits, or politicians—comes out and insists Joe must quit. He must resign for the good of the country. He cannot—they repeat—CANNOT win. Not now. Not since he did those things that wouldn’t amount to a hill of beans in any other time in our lives. Not since Trump. That scary, scary boogie man everyone, including the poohbahs, the pundits and the politicians, are deathly afraid of.
But they can’t admit they’re afraid of what Trump and his moneychangers can do to them—to their reputations, to their livelihoods, to their equilibrium—so they look for a scapegoat. And good old Joe, with all his flaws and foibles, is always conveniently there.
When you think of it, Joe Biden has always been the scapegoat, the foil, the one who is just goofy enough not to deserve the respect he so obviously craves.
And yet there Joe is, after three very successful years in the White House, so obviously deserving it. Respect.
So we’ve had weeks of Joe-bashing, out in the open, vocal to the skies above, “Joe Must Go”. “Joe WILL Go”. “Joe, Just GO”.
Except Joe isn’t going. And it turns out not everybody WANTS Joe to go. Millions of us have stood our ground and told the world we DO NOT AGREE.
Did they really think we would be quiet about something this desperately important??
And now they’re all stuck with egg on their faces. And we see them. And they know it. And they’ll have to come up with the right words to erase what they’ve said before so they can look again like reliable sources. People we can trust.
All I can say is good luck with that.
But, hey guys, give me a call if you want some help. No gloating. I’ll just do it.
I should tell you, though: I’m old as Methuselah and more than a bit rickety. I’m WAY older than Joe.
That’s okay, right?
Exactly!!
