I'm so sorry, Mona. That is incredibly frustrating. And your phone company is extremely arrogant!!!!!! and this is what happens without competition!!!! ggrrrrrrrrrr
We're fortunate in that although we're a small island, we have our own telecom company serving the south end population of 15,000. I'm even more fortunate, in that the owner (who is one of my cycling buddies) lives just down the road from me, so we were the first neighborhood on the island to get fiber to the house! None of which is making you feel any better!
Despite the outrageously good internet, I compose most of my Substack posts in Evernote, particularly the longer ones that have a lot of research notes. Evernote works offline if you need it to. You could write in that, and then copy and paste into Substack when your internet is solid. The interface and features are similar enough to make a fairly painless process.
John, I looked into Evernote and it looks like I have to have a paid subscription in order to use it offline. But it does look good. Lucky you to have fiber optics!
Our power went out for a bit the other night. Rather than pull up a hot spot, I put pen to paper and knocked out a few cards I've been intending to write. But, it was just for an hour or so. Days of disconnection can feel debilitating. The dependence is real. All that to say, I get it. Hang in there! Safe travels. And, dammit, I wish we could ask for refunds when the internet service for which we pay goes to $#!^
I feel your pain! That happens so often here in Baja, Mexico. The power goes out and so do the phones and internet and it can go on for days. I'm retired and have no current crises to manage so I'm OK with it. The expats here who are dependent on technology use Starlink regardless of the cost. May the force be with you Mona.....
Our brains are JUST LIKE THAT….off & on when we want the opposite! It is probably easier for me to see the humor in it than it is for you!!!! Beautiful place, though….

You showed up in my email inbox at 10:45 am Tuesday.
Yay! And look! I'm still here!
Progress! Bars are down to two, though. Holding my breath.

Ah yes, forgot about that

I would be lost without the internet and my SubStack writing. Thanks to John for the Ever Note comment, I didn't know that.

We let the internet rule our ives, don't we?
I try to exclude it from my life and retain simplicity and less of the chatter-chatter, but it's a drug.
Best time ever is when things go down to 1 bar or a shadow and unless I'm trying to pay bills, it's a magic existence.
I think I wouldn't mind it so much if it weren't for my activities here on Substack. I feel as if I need to be here!
