I do love the look of bare tree limbs lined with snow and the views from my study window and also my "Zoom room" are lovely: tons of very old trees, some at least a century old.
What a lovely peek into your world! And it's a beautiful one. I think one day before I get too old, it would be nice to experience a winter like that. I'm gonna have a long, heard ponder about that...
Can you get to your mailbox? That might be a dealbreaker for me. (Not MAIL mail, mind you, but more packages. Mostly packages. Okay, Amazon stuff.) Otherwise, your view (and visitors) look wonderful, and I understand why you're still there. 💚
Yes, I can get to my mailbox, but I have a neighbor who walks her dog every day and brings it to me if there's anything there. The UPS driver puts my packages in the garage, so if I don't get out there right away they're going to be okay!
Stunning! Love that you had a treat for the doe, and she told her friends so they could come by to add to your scenery, hope you get to stay so we can see more beauty too!
It is beautiful, Ramona. I am not a snow and ice person and I live in the desert now. It’s 70 on the thermostat and I’m cold and wrapped in a blanket. Lol! However, I really do miss seeing deer and cardinals out of my picture window in Ohio. It’s been 18 years. Sitting by a fire inside is a missed luxury too. What a serene place to write. Keep ‘em coming!
Oh, I wish I were an Amazon. The things I wouldn't find to do!
As for feeding the wildlife, I don't very often. They suffer more by coming to depend on handouts than they do by learning to forage on their own. And I haven't forgotten that these same deer treat my flowers as their very own salad bar in the summer! I like seeing them but I try not to encourage them too much!
Good point. We have rabbit, wallaby and deer issues too. But we seldom have real privation owing to climate - the wildlife wanders down from the hills all year round and eat what they want (crops, gardens and lawns) and then trit-trot back to the hills. It only becomes a dire problem in time of drought. Then licences are issued and cull programmes initiated.
You are so brave and adventurous. I hope it is a relatively short winter and that you always have some propane to spare, until the first crocuses emerge.
I’d want to stay too ❤️ it’s beautiful. I enjoyed reading this 🙏
I loved everything about this. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for reading it! ♥
I really was my pleasure, Ramona.

Pictures! We need pictures!

Well, you wouldn't have to make it ALL winter. Just a little of it goes a long way!
True!

If you have a wine store that delivers, sounds like you're all set! 😁
I'm not much of a wine drinker but I have two bottles, a red and a white, for cooking, so if ever get the urge...
Actually, it's ice cream I'd miss most if I ever ran out. 😀
I still say your home is a dream home for some...namely ME!
Enjoy for as long as you can.

How wonderful. I hope you have comfy covers and beautiful views for as long as your can stay. Keep us posted.
It seems like exactly the right place for you - for now.
I had to nudge myself to breathe looking at these photos.
Breathtaking. Thank you for sharing this essay and wonderful photos.🥰
Stunning and I think you're an Amazon!
Go you.
I'd be ordering feed for the wildlife as well as propane for you, too!

Loved reading this, Mona! With views like that…no wonder you want to stay put…I would too! ❤️
This is such a fun piece, and the pictures were lovely. Thank you for putting a smile on my face. Stay warm!
