I was 15, a junior in high school, and the first time I ever talked back to an adult - the guidance counselor told us (I was an aide in the office) and I said, "No, you're wrong." That didn't happen in America. Neither did watching a murder occur in real time, as we say now. The killing of Oswald for all us to see and witness - this was a regular TV series - this WAS reality. There are so many "what if's" to that day and the ones that followed. I can't watch the Zapruder film without the same sense of horror, unbelief that we were on a new track downward, as we didn't even see it. THere's also the Challenger, with a teacher aboard... of course September 11. I do't even recognize this world now when I think back....
