Celebrating Independence Day is difficult for me this year. We don't seem to be the country I thought we were and I wonder where we go from here.

We're all discouraged, Janice, and that's exactly how the GOP/Right has planned it. They'll inundate us with lies and propaganda to make us believe this isn't our America and that we've deservedly lost control.

They're full of shit.

This country is US. The citizens. And there are more of us who are sane and responsible than there are of the other kind. They maybe pushier and louder but they're wrong for democracy and we can't forget that.

If I have to be the designated cheerleader, so be it. I've been a citizen since FDR was president and I've been witness to all of the successes and all of the failures since then. I believe we're worth saving. I hope you do, too.

I do. We, as a country, have been pretty special over the years. My hope is that the sane and responsible remain strong in the face of the lies and propaganda. We seem to be inundated with it.

Although I tend to be a pessimist (or am I a realist), I'm seeing at least some signs of those in long sleeps finally waking up. At our 4th of July parade, instead of boos the Democrats were greeted with cheers. Many Dems showed up to walk beside our float and hold our signs talking about true freedom and our values. The local activist group I lead has been inundated with new members and at least some of them actually want to do something. This is new. If we keep this up, maybe Beto could win! So I agree, Ramona. We're not done yet.

Wow, Misty, that's such good news. Sad that it should come as a recent revelation, that Dems aren't the bad guys, but it does look like progress!

I hope the momentum lasts until November. Lots of work ahead. Thank you for what you're doing there. I can't be easy.
