This is So good - excellent reporting with the right amount of sarcasm - I'm looking at how I use sarcasm/humor in my serious stuff, and I wanna grow up and be you - what a nice blend!

One suggestion: when you write these pieces that are painful but just cry out for some sarcasm, write them as if you're telling them to supportive friends, and not an audience of strangers. Of course they're going to agree with you! Of course they're going to understand your nuances and jokes! Make the story the most important thing, because it is, but tell it your way.
