Ramona, I have read your writings about Twitter and I trust your judgement. I think I have a twitter account but I don't look at it regularly and I don't know how to use it like you do. I am willing to learn. I really appreciate your comments about the proposed buy-out. I just posted that it makes me very worried.
Cindy, there's nothing that says anyone has to use Twitter, especially the way I do. But for those who have and are thinking about quitting, I would urge them to rethink it. Only because it is such a valuable tool when it's used right for political purposes.
A lot of my friends either don't use it at all or use it for the friendly stuff. That's okay, too. And if they leave it won't make a dent. But the others...yes. We're going to need them.
Twitter isn't for everyone. A lot of ugly stuff goes on there, but I've managed to stay away from it while engaging with my own community. They're people I admire and we're mainly on the same page, but we can disagree without being disagreeable. We're learning from each other, and that's such a gift.
I’m not a big Twitter user. I use it to read and retweet stuff my friends post. So sure, I’ll stick around to see how the Grand New Musk Era plays out. Nobody will miss me if I go anyway.
I did see that. I follow him on Twitter and see everything he writes. What he writes and what he does are two different things. I've also seen dozens of screenshots where he's blocked somebody. They're all over Twitter. People take pride in them.
I don't doubt what you say is true. But a) Why do you suppose he blocked them? Hypocrisy? Or perhaps he gets spammed? We really don't know, do we? b) Why are they proud of it? Just wondering. It has been my observation that the troll-iest of trolls display that sort of thing as some kind of badge of honor, a "look-at-me" gesture of false pride. See, I don't do either ... I don't block people, nor do I troll people. To my mind, one of the unacknowledged features here is freedom of choice. Sort of like changing the channel if I don't like the show. So I stay out of spitting contests. Don't like 'em, don't follow 'em. Choice.
You're making assumptions because you don't want to believe Elon Musk would block anyone who didn't deserve it. I don't hang around with trolls or instigators. The business at hand is too serious for that. Musk blocks people who call him out on things he's done. Public things he's done. He's famous for it.
There are screenshots of many of the tweets he takes offense to, and the people I follow who have been blocked have also been vetted. By me.
I don't engage in pissing contests, either, and I will block anyone who comes on my page just to be stupid or cruel. That's not a free speech issue. It's my page, my rules. Same as here.

It should be interesting. Or not. It may just fizzle out to nothing!
"Musk is notorious for blocking anyone who disagrees with him" He is? Did you see this?https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1518623997054918657

Here's just one of them: They're hardly trolls. https://twitter.com/Public_Citizen/status/1519064518441246725
